  • The Lung Association – Ontario is the leading organization in promoting healthy breathing, supporting those with lung disease, and finding future solutions through research and innovation. The Lung Association is a trusted voice in the areas of prevention and control of respiratory illness, tobacco cessation and prevention, and air quality and its effects on lung health. The Association provides programs and services to patients and healthcare providers, invests in lung research and advocates for improved policies on lung health. The Lung Association – Ontario has partnered with Heart Wise Exercise Model to expand lung health to more people across the province.

  • The Mikey Network is working to create public awareness and provide education about heart healthy lifestyles. Currently we are committed to placing “MIKEYS” (public access defibrillators) in as many high-risk locations as possible so people affected by sudden cardiac arrest might have a second chance at life. Through The Mikey Network, the beat goes on. The Mikey Network has supported the Heart Wise Exercise initiative since 2011 and works with HWE sites to ensure they have a Public Access Defibrillator.

  • Toronto Emergency Medical Services has been a supporter of the GTA Heart Wise Exercise project since 2011 providing training to HWE exercise leaders and reviewing designated sites medical emergency plans.

  • The UHN Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation Program helps people with heart disease improve their cardiac health and fitness. It also helps them reduce their chance of future cardiac incidents by making lasting lifestyle and behaviour changes. UHN has been a supporter of Heat Wise Exercise since 2009 and is a Regional Coordinating Centre.

  • The Cardiovascular Chronic Disease Prevention and Management program at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket has partnered with the University of Ottawa Heart Institute to create a Heart Wise Exercise network in the Simcoe-York region, north of Toronto. They support the ongoing training and renewal of their many local Heart Wise Exercise facilities.

  • Kidactive, working through The Physical Activity Network - Renfrew County (PAN-RC) was instrumental in helping grow the Heart Wise Exercise network into the Renfrew County. The PAN-RC continues to support the HWE network in Renfrew County.

  • The City of Ottawa is a founding partner of the Heart Wise Exercise model and continues to be a strong supporter of its growth and evolution. There are currently over 20 City of Ottawa facilities that offer HWE programming, and the City of Ottawa Parks and Recreation unit continues to be a key local advocate for the HWE network.

  • The National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA is a founding partner of the Heart Wise Exercise model and continues to be a strong supporter of its evolution throughout Ontario. In addition to having Heart Wise Exercise designated programs and leaders at all 6 of their facilities in the Ottawa region, the YMCA-YWCA has partnered with the University of Ottawa Heart Institute to receive grant funding for the HWE network in the Champlain region.

  • The Ottawa Heart Institute Alumni Inc. provides an ongoing link between the Heart Institute and its community of patients. Its goals are to inform Alumni members of advancements in the treatment of heart disease, to promote communication between Alumni and the Institute Staff and to assist the Institute in providing service to its patients and former patients. The Alunmi has generously provided the funds required to create this website helping UOHI share this innovative prevention program to a wide audience.

  • Ontario Trillium Foundation has been a significant supporter of the Heart Wise Exercise model. Having funded grants in both the Champlain and Toronto regions, their support has helped the model grow and evolve. As an agency of the Government of Ontario, their investments in community-based initiatives strengthen the capacity of organizations and the voluntary sector.

  • The YMCA-YWCA is a founding partner of the Heart Wise Exercise model , partnering with the in the Ottawa region and has been a strong supporter of its evolution throughout Ontario. In addition to having Heart Wise Exercise designated programs at 37 facilities in Ontario, several Ontario YMCA-YWCAs have partnered with local health care professionals and other fitness partners on grant requests to evolve the HWE model into new regions.

  • The County of Renfrew Paramedic Service is committed to improving the quality of life of its visitors and residents. Community Paramedic Programs such as Heart Wise Exercise have become an essential part of the social, economic and health fabric of the Ottawa Valley. We are happy to support the University of Ottawa Heart Institute connect with its rural population in such a meaningful way.

  • The Cardiac Health Foundation of Canada is a charitable organization dedicated to supporting cardiac rehabilitation and the advocacy of prevention and education across Canada. They have partnered with the University of Ottawa Heart Institute to bring the Heart Wise Exercise model to southern Ontario, successfully receiving two grants from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to help accomplish this. They continue to support the ongoing growth and evolution of HWE throughout Ontario and Canada.
